A Legacy that transcends borders

Graça Machel’s legacy is not just a record of achievements—it is a call to action. Her life inspires future leaders to rise with courage, pursue justice, and build an Africa rooted in equity and opportunity. The Graça Machel Trust is honoured to steward this legacy and ignite transformative leadership for generations to come.

Graça Machel’s life is more than a biography—it is a call to generations. Her forthcoming memoir will be a rare window into the soul of a leader who has walked with giants and stood for the forgotten. But her legacy lives not only in words—it lives in the action of others. The Trust is leading the production of a compelling autobiography that traces Graça Machel’s journey—from her Mozambican childhood to global stateswoman. Drawing on deep archival research and personal interviews, the memoir will offer a powerful portrait of her life’s work and values.

This multimedia project will curate the stories of African women leaders—freedom fighters, innovators, cultural icons and many others—who shaped history. These “stalwarts” will share their journeys and honour the heroines who came before them, educating and inspiring new generations.

Together with her memoir, this initiative is a powerful bridge between the trailblazers of the past and the leaders of tomorrow.

Under the guidance of expert archivists, the Trust is creating a robust digital and physical archive housing Graça Machel’s speeches, writings, photos, and videos. A dedicated online portal will give public access to her legacy and influence.

Through creative media—documentaries, films, and podcasts—the Trust will bring Graça Machel’s legacy to life. Featuring voices of friends, family, and fellow changemakers, these productions will offer intimate insights into her enduring impact on Africa and the world.
